I love the V8 Supercars and DTM modes, as I did with Toca3 and apparently they will be much bigger (almost a full game to themselves) in Toca3. The FordGT in Toca2 doesnt sound anything near the real life version. The new V8 and DTM cars sound excellent, so I hope the other cars have realistic sounds. It was basically the same engine sound slightly pitched up or low, along with the supercharger whine. Has damn good graphics and a great engine sound (yes, this is important to me as you'll be hearing it all the time.)For the more arcadey experience, I cant wait for Toca Race Driver 3. Anyway the rFactor demo is good but there is no AI racers, its just a multiplayer test but you can start your own localhost server and try out the track. I still couldnt get it to work right and support was useless so I dropped it. That and the fact the game seems to hate gamepads, I just had to fight for it to work with my Xbox 360 gamepad and the menu setup is confusing and such a pain in the ass. It has terrible engine sounds, ugly cockpits (nothing like GTL) and unforgiving physics which I pretty much put me off from playing it anymore. Im probly the only one here, but I dont like LFS. I would definetly choose this over Live For Speed. rFactor has a lot of potential because it can be modded nicely. I think its made by some ppl affiliated with Simbin because the options are almost exactly like those in GTR/GTL like seat foward aft adjustment etc. I still might pick it up.rFactor is another good one. It sucks that Simbin uses StarFarce though. The car cockpits and the sound particularly the Corvette are amazing. Even on Novice it's not really arcadey though (no massive powerslides/powerups/replenishing nitros etc.).You will need an analogue controller of some type if you don't have a wheel, but it is catered more towards the well wheeled gamer. There is a demo if you want to give it a shot. Any thoughts? It is not as hardcore as some, with difficulty levels ranging from Novice (minimum damage, slowest AI, all driving assists on) to Professional (full damage, fastest AI, no driving assists) taken from the SimHQ review. I tend to gravitate more toward the arcadey (though not strictly), and am not sure how hardcore sim this one is. Can you buy an online version? Perhaps we can arrange one to be sent over if they are causing avalanches from unsold copies where you are.quote:Originally posted by bulletproof:My only concern is whether I will enjoy it as much as I want to. ^^ Where can you actually get CRC from? Practically nowhere in my country or online sells it. Anybody had any experience with these?Anyway, hopefully there are more than two of us (I use "us" loosely, as I've only been into this for the last week or so - View image here: - ) who love this genre and I look forward to any experiences/: Looks like I'd better check out Trackmania Nations too (for balls out fun rather than sim so it seems). I am hooked.Racing Mini Cooper S's (original model) has never been more fun than in GT Legends.Richard Burns Rally's price is budget of the budget, mainly because it is so difficult for mainstream/casual gamers to get into (because of i) dedication to realism, and ii) requirement of a good wheel) and this difficulty is what makes it so appealing to me.This thread is for the appreciation of these titles as well as any recommendations of other titles (I'm looking at YOU Guybo) in this niche genre.I'm currently investigating Grand Prix 4, rFactor and Xpand Rally but haven't had a chance to D/L any demos as of yet. This was sparked last week when I picked up a Logitech Driving Force Pro on the cheap and now I'm addicted.I immediately ran out and got GTR: FIA Racing, GT Legends and am trying to get the hang of the Richard Burns Rally demo.My new hangouts are Sim Racing World and Black Hole Motorsports to try and read up on all the other great titles and mods out there.I've played the Gran Turismo series since its inception, as I have the Colin McRae Rally series and Forza, but nothing has given me the same visceral thrill as flying through Eau Rouge at Spa in a Saleen S7 in 6th with the wheel shaking like crazy in my hands. G'day all,Just thought I'd share my rediscovered love for the racing simulation genre on the PC.

All players will have their personal preference after they use both for a while. A sequential shifter is a shifter that is pushed forwards to increase gears, and backwards to decrease them. The gears are set-up following an H pattern, increasing from left to right. The first is the typical shifter you would find in a manual transmission car. There are two basic types of shifters that you can purchase as peripherals: an H-shifter and a sequential shifter. Here we’ll cover the basics of what you can expect from these. It’s a lot of fun to drive using a wheel and pedals, but true talent is having to deal with all the things a real driver would have to consider, including a shifter and a handbrake. These will allow you to feel much more like a real life pilot. We cannot stress enough that the wheels and pedals have to be your starting point, but once you have your basic setup you might find the need to grab extra peripherals. Speaking of which, we recommend looking at our guide to finding the perfect sim racing seating position. In the future you may be interesting in buying a dedicated seat or sim racing cockpit, but we’ve found normal chairs to work just fine. In that case, either remove them or grab another chair from elsewhere in the house. We’ll spare you an extra purchase and say that your current seat is probably fine for sim racing. It doesn’t have to be anything special: you can use a regular set of 2.1 or 5.1 speakers, or a pair of dedicated sim racing headphones. To get the most out of your sim racing experience, you’re definitely going to want some kind of audio setup. In the future we recommend either investing in a VR headset or into ultrawide or triple monitors to give you a wider view angle and truly feel as though you’re inside the car. We suggest you start with what you already have before making any new purchases. Whether it be a single or triple monitor, VR headset, or even a projector, you have to be able to interact with the game. In order to play a racing sim the most basic thing you need is some kind of display. Moreover, they have incredibly high precision levels, so when you become quite good at racing games you should consider arming yourself with peripherals which grant you accuracy, and translate your every move into an input for the game. Not only will you stress your feet less, but you’ll be able to adjust them. That being said, higher quality pedals are something you should think about investing in. Thankfully, a lot of wheels come pre-bundled with pedals, so you likely won’t have to make two different purchases. We have a great guide on steering wheels that goes into more depth on what you should look for, as well as a round-up of some of the best cheap sim racing wheels on the market.Īlthough wheels will be the biggest quality of life improvement, it’s essentially unworkable to have a wheel and no pedals. The most essential things for you to look for in wheels are force-feedback and rotation range. It’s still a lot of fun to play with a joystick, but you won’t be simulating what it really feels like to drive, nor will you feel that immersed. It’s an obvious stepping stone, but one which is absolutely essential. The first big step into the world of racing sims has to be the steering wheel. There are plenty of optional extras to choose from, but it’s the steering wheel and pedals that’ll make the biggest difference to how immersive your sim racing experience is - assuming you already have some kind of monitor. What Do You Need for a Racing Simulator?Įvery sim racing rig should consist of three things: a steering wheel, pedals, and some kind of display. In this guide, we’ll look at what you need for your first rig, when you should buy it, and what options to choose. That’s the reason why building your own racing simulator setup is something we’d recommend to anyone. Whether it be F1 or Rally, we all love to feel like professional drivers. Few things are as engrossing as the adrenaline rush from a last corner overtake. To allow for expansion of the new concrete casting, and to make removal easier, he wrapped this box with 1/8″ sill-seal closed-cell foam. Since the original blocks were hollow, he inserted an open-ended box in the mold, which he centered and screwed to the base to keep secure. Marty chose pre-mixed high-strength concrete mix for his castings. The original blocks were made from a dense mixture of Portland cement and sand. Marty fills around the form with concrete, adding rebar for strength at mid-fill, and finishing by vibrating the interior block to spread the concrete. He let the plaster cure overnight, then disassembled the form and cut along each side of the mold with an oscillating tool to gently pull the pieces away and remove the original block. He designed the form with 3″ to 4″ between the sides and the original block, which makes the mold sturdy enough to use repeatedly, and wide enough to trowel in the wet plaster.Īfter all the surfaces were well-coated with a petroleum-based release agent, he mixed enough plaster to trowel into the cavities, lightly tapped the sides to settle the wet plaster, and screeded the top for a flat surface. He screwed the form together so that after the plaster sets, the mold can be unscrewed easily and pulled away from the new piece. He chose melamine-surfaced particleboard for the form because it’s less porous than bare wood, which makes it easier to remove from castings. Marty began by building a form to make the mother-mold. Once the mold had cured, he unscrewed the form and cut along the sides to remove the original block. To create the mother-mold, Marty assembled a form around the original block, then filled it with plaster. These molds wouldn’t last forever, but they would hold up for the number of blocks needed, and the materials were both locally available and inexpensive. Since he didn’t need to make numerous copies, he chose to create mother-molds for the project out of molding plaster. Although it’s possible to buy mold-making materials that can be used repeatedly, because Marty needed to copy four designs (the fifth was an altered version of another), the cost of the materials would be prohibitive. His first issue was how to make molds for the five rusticated block shapes: pier blocks, tapered bases, tapered column capitals, column drums, and column disks, all with the same rough-hewn finish. While the process isn’t rocket science, it is slow and tedious. Marty was aware of some local attempts to replicate cast blocks. That’s when he discovered Marty Naber of Naberhood Restorations. At this point, many homeowners would have given up, but as a vintage-car enthusiast, Gary knew that anything can be done if you find the right person. A local contractor, Doug Shultz, began repairs-removing and rebuilding the footings, and making structural repairs-but then the work stalled. A catch-22 developed as carpenters commented that the project was mason’s work and masons insisted it was a carpenter’s domain. Gary spoke to at least nine contractors many came by, looked at the porch, and never called back. With new concrete blocks, the porch is ready to weather another century. Gary was left with two choices: Find salvaged cast blocks for repair, or find a mason who could cast new blocks to match the old. Substituting modern blocks would have been unsightly, and replacing all the blocks would have changed the character of the porch. Unfortunately, the porch was falling apart, and needed an additional column to correct a sagging roofline. The porch-from the foundation piers to column capitals and even the apron in between-was constructed of cast ornamental concrete block, a material that was quite popular at the turn of the 20th century but went out of production by the 1940s. Homeowner Gary Stottler knew it wouldn’t be easy to restore the front porch on his circa 1900 Queen Anne because of the material used. This Queen Anne porch is more appealing with the help of concrete blocks. It scans all folders and summaries its disk analysis in pie chart and duplicate groups. Best Duplicate File Similar Files Finder Cleaner For Mac Os X El Capitan.I found that a burst of images taken in raw mode on a standalone camera were marked as duplicates by Photos: the burst was so fast that the four images, named differently, were taken within the same second and had nearly identical poses among the subjects. In other cases, it might be more subtle: the location is missing from one image but present in the other, or they’re identical except one is slightly downsampled. That reformulated image appears identical, and Photos marks such images as duplicates. For instance, if you post a photo via Instagram in iOS, Instagram makes a copy at a lower resolution which most metadata removed. In some cases, you might find that you have a low-resolution or metadata-scrubbed version of an image alongside one at higher resolution or with more embedded data. In macOS, bring up Window > Info and select images in turn to view their characteristics in the Info palette. You can then swipe left and right to compare the image and metadata among suspected duplicates. In iOS/iPadOS, tap the image and then swipe up to see the metadata. But you have to look at metadata to learn more about them than their file name and size.įor more detail, such as metadata, you have to dig deeper: The Duplicates album shows images Photos believes are actually or effectively identical. Whether it will prove to be something people go to again and again rather than try as a one-off is another question entirely. If you go in willing to try it out and pick the right movie for it (something that doesn’t require much cerebral work so the effects become a fun addition rather than an annoying distraction), you’ll have good craic. It’s easy to go to these things cynically. Having seen Avengers: Infinity War earlier in the week (check out our review here or listen to the review on our latest The Filum Show podcast below), enduring 4DX for 2 hours and 40 minutes would have been quite intolerable. The fun and silliness of each perfectly complimented one another. It has to be emphasised, Rampage ended up being the ideal companion to the 4DX experience. While not impossible to eat as you’re being shaken about, the feeling of movement isn’t appetising, and this reviewer saw several audience members either not finish whatever food they’d brought in or very cautiously consume during the dialogue-driven scenes during which seat movements are typically non-existent. If you’re the kind of movie goer who loves bringing a massive popcorn and drink to the cinema, 4DX is far from ideal. That might prove to be an advantage, mind you, when people are looking to cool off going into the summer months. Then, while the wind effects were great, they did make the cinema a bit cold near the end. A different effect involving sharp puffs of air from behind the head felt quite unpleasant on the ears while another, which constituted pushes from behind the shoulder blades on the seat, felt like a small child kicking the back of your chair and was quite annoying. Ahead of the screening, some of the effects demonstrated included snow and bubbles, and the amount of each was so pathetically small, with it only coming from the front of the cinema, that the response from the audience was laughter rather than awe. There were less pleasant effects as well. While you never quite feel like you’re actually in the helicopter or in the car (as the ads for 4DX say you will feel), it is good craic. The added effects worked particularly well for the helicopter and car chase scenes when the surround sound, wind, alternate sudden, circular and shaky seat movements, with the occasional flash of light, meshed together. The movement of the chairs, which are organised by rows (and provide plenty of leg room, another plus), is just right – not quite roller coaster-esque but with enough momentum to give you a sense of giddy joy. It’s more mist-like than rain-like and doesn’t leave that dreaded feeling of moistness (*shudders*). Those concerned that the rain effects will have them wet and cold needn’t fear. The movie shown was Rampage and results of applying the 4DX to it were mixed but generally satisfactory.įirst off, here’s what worked. We had a first-hand experience of 4DX at last night’s Gala opening in Cineworld, Parnell Street. With streaming services becoming ever more popular, the hope is to tempt viewers back to the big screen. The phenomenon consists of motion seats and special effects like wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, and rain, which are synchronised with the action on screen. 4DX is the latest development offering moviegoers an enhanced cinema experience. Creators Christian Linke and Alex Lee have shared that the changes are not necessarily retcons but are "adjustments in order to give the best story possible". Though the events of the series are heavily based on the established lore of the game, some differences have already been noted in the series. On September 25th, 2021, the release date for the first 3 episodes was revealed to be November 6th, 2021. On May 3rd, 2021, it was announced that the show has been picked up by Netflix for international release and by Tencent Video in China with a fall release date. Original slated for a 2020 release, the show was delayed to 2021 due to COVID-19-related difficulties. The series was announced on October 15th, 2019 as part of the League of Legends 10th anniversary celebrations, with Riot Games' CEO Nicolo Laurent stating that they have plans for Arcane to have multiple seasons. The voice actors came in early in the production process, but majority of the main cast was only announced years later on September 21st, 2021. The series was produced with and animated by Fortiche Productions, a French animation and creative production studio based in Paris that has worked with Riot on various videos for its champions in the past. Riot's then Global Head of Entertainment Businesses and Partnerships Jarred Kennedy worked with a creative team of writers (including Linke and Yee) in Los Angeles. With this being the company's first foray into this media format, Riot Games decided to have Arcane developed internally and independently financed, though initially through the collaboration of Linke and Yee with artists they've worked with before they began to receive more funding from Riot. Pitched by Linke and Yee in around 2014-2015, everything from planning and starting up the project to the overall writing, production, and animation took around six years before its eventual release. He would have to completely re-invent himself. For that he would have to remove himself not only from WCW, but from his own family lineage. (Photo: WWE)īut in a company that was partially built on the legacy of “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, it was hard for Dustin to ever truly emerge on his own or break through the glass ceiling. A young Dustin Rhodes, as WCW United States Champion. As Dustin Rhodes, he was a 2-time WCW US Champion and a 3-time WCW/NWA World Tag Team Champion (once with Ricky Steamboat and twice with Barry Windham). Dustin Rhodes had been working at the same company as his father, WCW, for years, as well as working with All Japan, where he’d become somewhat of a tag team specialist. ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLDUST: The Debutīefore the days of the internet’s prevalence in daily life and information/gossip scouring, there were few who realized that the painted and wigged enigma that debuted in vignettes on Monday Night Rawin the late summer of 1995 was actually Dusty Rhodes‘ son, Dustin Runnels. A twisted, demented narcissist with an obsession for film, who warned us all we never forget the name of (insert creepy inner breathing sound)….Goollllllllldust. Here’s a look at the 22 year old story of The Bizarre One. There’s no question that Goldust will one day be enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame when his career finally ends. He’s of the House of Rhodes, one of wrestling’s royal blood lines. Like Cody mentioned, he’s a 3-time Intercontinental Champion and a 3-time World Tag Team Champion in the WWE (Cody forgot to mention he’s also a 9-time Hardcore Champion as well). Goldust debuted in the WWF in 1995 and he’s still working the same character today – a span of 22 years and counting. The Undertaker’s ride went from 1990 to 2017 (assuming he is indeed retired), a span of 27 years. Apart from The Undertaker, perhaps no other WWE created gimmick has had the longevity that Goldust has had, in all his incarnations. Which leads to the next question? Is Goldust Hall of Fame worthy? Of course he is. One wrestling fan on Twitter went so far as to question the logic of the push entirely, declaring that Goldust had always been a jobber, so why care? It didn’t take long for Goldust’s real life brother Cody Rhodes to jump in in defence:ģ time intercontinental champ, 3 time world tag team champ…replace "jobber" w/"future hall of famer" and kiss my ass while you're at it While most were elated at the return to the twisted and dark side to Goldie’s character, some were raising eyebrows at the sudden elevation of a 48-year old wrestler whose roots stem from the New Generation Era of the WWF (pre-Attitude Era). It was the Bizarre One himself, Goldust, who turned on his Golden Truth partner R-Truth and declared that the Goldust of old, The Golden Era, was back. These last few weeks, the WWE Universe has been abuzz with a heel turn that no one saw coming and seemingly reinvigorated the fans interest in a character that was on the verge of redundancy.
